I’m getting more and more into making “everyday” items at home.  There are no chemicals in it when you make it at home, it’s less expensive,  tastes so much better, and honestly I think it’s fun to make everyday items at home, I love the science of it, and it’s a great way to teach your kids science too.

I made a double recipe of the ketchup and it cost me about $1.50.

Ingredients:

6 oz can tomato paste
1/4 cup honey (or agave)
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup water
3/4 tsp salt
1/3 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat; whisk until smooth.

When it comes to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring often.

Remove from heat and cover until cool. Chill and store refrigerated in a covered container.
