I’m getting more and more into making “everyday” items at home. ┬áThere are no chemicals in it when you make it at home, it’s less expensive, ┬átastes so much better, and honestly I think it’s fun to make everyday items at home, I love the science of it, and it’s a great way to teach your kids science too.

I made a double recipe of the ketchup and it cost me about $1.50.

Ingredients:

6 oz can tomato paste
1/4 cup honey (or agave)
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup water
3/4 tsp salt
1/3 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat; whisk until smooth.

When it comes to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring often.

Remove from heat and cover until cool. Chill and store refrigerated in a covered container.
