It’s been a lot of fun selling on eBay this week :)  We’re getting close to Christmas and I’m loving it when I’m busy listing and things are sold and paid for.  That’s always tons of fun.

Right now, I don’t have a lot of toys listed and my store isn’t stocked up for Christmas like it usually is this time of year, but I’m pleasantly surprised that my sales seem to be doing well in spite of my rebuilding phase.

I found an amazing thrift store in my new location.  It’s a local thrift that supports Veterans, they only have the one location and I scored BIG time.  I had been wondering where all of the really good plush were hiding around here and I found them.  It’s definitely on my list of places to visit again.  One of the things I found there was a super cute pink cashmere hooded sweater coat, and I decided that it’s time for me to keep something for myself, so I’m keeping it.

Also, at one of my local thrifts, I found several brand new in the package toys that had been donated by a retail store, that was a good score!

As always, I’m toying with new ideas to improve and expand my business in the new year and am excited about the possibilities.  They’re still in the research phase right now, and never fear, if they turn into anything, I’ll be sure to share the details with you.

This Week of Treasure Hunting ~ Vacation Edition

Vacation is always one of the best times (in my opinion) to treasure hunt.  Of course I spent plenty of time having fun, taking naps and just hanging out with our family.  Lizzie and I were the only treasure hunters in our family on this trip.

Most of our time was spent ooooohhhhhing and awwwwwwwing over Logan, but we did sneak in a few trips to the thrift store.

I sent home three boxes of goodies by FedEx, and I’ve only begun to get it all listed.

We went to a couple of Goodwill’s, Savers, St. Vincent de Paul’s and a local thrift store.

What I love about the Goodwill stores in the area my brother lives in is that they have a discount card :)   When you spend $20 or more, you get a percent off of your purchase.  They also have a colored tag that is on sale for the week.

As you can see, lots of plush and clothing.  I found a few pairs of shoes, but I really struck out in that department.  I was disappointed because usually I find a lot of good brand shoes when I’m out treasure hunting.

I scored:

4 Cashmere sweaters

1 Pair of 7 for All Mankind Jeans

1 Pair of Talbots jeans (I bought them because they were new with the tags)

2 Long jean skirts

3 Fluffy scented care bears

2 Build a bear plush (one was a unicorn, and I pick up all unicorns regardless of brand, and the other was a cat and I wanted the outfit that was on it, so double score on that one.)

1 Plush Madeline Doll

2 Talking Jo-Jo the Clown Dolls

1 Molly the clown doll

1 Pair of Teva sandals

2 Pairs of Birkenstocks womens shoes

1 J. Crew skirt

1 Child’s pink Chicago Bears Jersey

1 Women’s pink Packers Jersey

1 Christopher & Banks Christmas Sweater

1 NWT Hello Kitty t-shirt

4 Hanna Andersson pieces

and a whole slew of TY plush cartoon character toys, like Hello Kitty, Wow, Wow, Wubzzy, Walden, SpongeBob Squarepants, Patrick, Pablo, Tyrone, and a bunch of other ones.

I was pretty pleased with the things I found.  All in all, it was a great trip :)

This Week of Treasure Hunting

Since I’m getting ready to go on vacation, I decided to just get all of my current items from my “to be listed” bin listed and then I’d be free to shop for inventory on vacation…..no more shopping till then.

I was doing really well with this decision, until tonight when we went to dinner at IHOP. (I had the cinnastack pancakes in case you were wondering……and they are FABULOUS!!!) IHOP is about two minutes from Value Village, which is my absolute favorite thrift store.

I would have been strong and not stopped, but we were headed to a friend’s house that was only a few minutes away and we had about 30 minutes to kill.

What’s a girl to do when she has 30 minutes AND a Value Village staring her in the face?

Well, I’m writing a post about my week of treasure hunting so I’m sure you can guess what happened next……

Um, yeah……I found a few things!  I only spent $40 on this trip.

I ended up with:

Women’s Keens
Talking Little Bear
Build a Bear Workshop Outfit (The talking Little Bear was wearing the outfit……BONUS!)
GIANT plush pony
Medium sized pony (the yellow one, it makes horse noises, opens and closes his eyes, moves his head, etc.)
Starbucks Uncle Sam bear
Molly doll from the Big Comfy Couch
Toy Story Backpack
Giant Plush Rudolph

I’m planning on having it all listed before we leave for vacation.

**This post was written before she left although she’s heading home now–so did you get it all listed, Rachel?

This Week of Treasure Hunting

Last week, when I was at Value Village, I saw a couple of items that I thought about buying to sell on eBay, but I wasn’t sure, and I’m not a huge fan of navigating eBay on my phone, plus I was already spending too much, so I went ahead and left them there.  After looking them up on eBay, I thought they might be worth going back to look for.

I had another 30% off savings pass, so I figured it would be worth the trip even if they were already gone.

Lucky for me, they were still there……..and I found a few other things that definitely made it worth the trip.

The Scooby-Doo Barbie and Skipper are the items I went back for.

I found a pair of Keens, a pair of Birkenstocks, a Cars backpack, a pair of Mini Boden tights, a Carebear Cousin with tags, and a vintage Carebear Cousin, and a Starbucks tumbler.  My purchases filled up the rest of my other value pass, so now I have a 30% off coupon to use at Value Village until the end of July :D

This Week of Treasure Hunting

Wednesdays are usually a full day of teaching for me, from 9am till 6pm, grab some dinner and head to Bible study, then home around 9pm.

For some reason this week, I had several students out of town, so I ended up with a 2 hour lunch break.  I was supposed to be practicing my Violin (my lessons are on Thursday morning, so this was my last chance to practice this week) and entering my receipts from the last two weeks onto my spreadsheet, but something in me said to drop everything, grab some lunch and head to Value Village!!!

I had a coupon for 30% off, so I grabbed some Burger King, and hit the road.

The first few places I looked I completely struck out. My cart was empty.  Usually I find at least one thing by this point…….hmmmmm……”God, you gave me a strong desire to stop here today, so please show me what You want me to find here…….”

I headed to the Men’s shoes and BINGO!  There they were!  A pair of Men’s brown Dansko clogs :)   Can you say Happy Dance?!?!?!
Those alone made the trip worth it!!!

With my 30% off coupon, I spent $59 on everything.  Here’s what I came home with:

In addition to the Danskos (which needed a little TLC) I found:
*Women’s TEVA Sandals
*Lightning McQueen House slippers (From the movie Cars in case you’re not familiar with him.)
*Hanna Andersson Dress
*Busch Gardens Plush Clydesdale Horse (I pick up any kind of horse, pony, or unicorn that’s in fantastic condition)
*Nike Dri-Fit Shorts
*7 For All Mankind Jeans
*Talking, Light up ET

And I know that a lot of you are thinking…….”WHAT???? You spent $59 at a thrift store on 8 items?!?!?!” and you’re scratching your heads.

It was completely worth it to me.  The Dansko’s have already sold for $69.  So within 24 hours of this trip, I’ve already made back all the money I spent and a little profit too.  All of the other items will be completely profit.  The ET is a big ticket item, and so are the jeans.  All the other items are good too, but most of them will sell for $29.99 or less.

I’m 99% caught up on my eBay “to be listed” bin, so these lucky guys were all photographed and listed within 30 hours of purchasing them.

What did you find this week that made you do the Happy Dance?
